Chapter 33(1 / 1)

The people over there have been watching us.

Gin did not move, only saying a single sentence: "I know."

You knew all along," the Youth corrected, then paused to think. "Is it someone you know?

The Silver-haired youth gave the youth a half-smile for a moment, while the youth maintained her smile and met her gaze calmly.

Gin let out a sneer, yet he still spoke: "I know her."

Oh—

"Don't meddle in other people's business," Gin warned, though her voice lacked the intimidation it had before.

"Then I'll ask later," the Youth said with such confidence, as if asking such things in the future would be perfectly natural.

Gin felt a bit mentally exhausted. He cast his gaze toward Nana and Niwang; the two children seemed to have the intention of walking over. The Silver-haired youth's expression remained unchanged: "You should leave."

The Silver-haired youth paused, but still offered a reminder: "Prepare your magic show; it will be quite embarrassing if you fail."

That being said, Gin did not think he would fail.

—After all, Gin was well aware of her abilities.

—After all, a certain Shinigami Detective has yet to make her debut.

Then again, is there something wrong with the profession of Magician? Or have you people already ruined it?

Thinking back to the Phantom Thief Kid from many years ago, then thinking about that fellow who debuted a few years later by inheriting her father's moniker, Gin felt somewhat speechless.

Are all criminals who aspire to be Magicians this high-profile?

I don't think I'll fail," the Silver-haired youth said with a smile, raising an eyebrow. "If you're bored lately, why not come see my magic show?

"I really don't think I've just set a flag for myself.." Takao-kun.

Author's Note:

----------------------

(1) This is an experience from a friend of my friend. Once, when I went to Japan for a trip, I was chatting with my classmates after class upon my return. When the topic of Japan came up, I mentioned his friend. His friend is studying in Japan, but his parents are both from China (I'm not sure if they are pure Chinese, but their nationality is).

It is much like some of the things said online; when they see you doing something "out of line," Japanese people might say, "Oh, that's quite good" (I'm not sure if they actually think so or if it's just politeness), but they won't do it themselves because "everyone else does it this way." However, according to that girl's conversation with my classmate, Japanese girls are actually quite individualistic in private; they can be expressive, laugh, even lose their tempers. Perhaps it is because they "don't want to be noticed"?

This also exists in Japanese society; in the workplace, everyone sticks to the rules. They might have thought of better methods but are unwilling to change because no one wants to take responsibility; breaking the rules means bearing responsibility, if something goes wrong, the responsibility is very heavy.

(2) I think being unconventional in Japan, especially among students, is really not a compliment—at least not in the mainstream. There are certainly unique individuals, but I estimate their number and degree are fewer than in China.

However, it is different in manga; perhaps it is the difference between art and life, between reality and fantasy?

(3) That's right, Little sister, you are about to open the doors to a new world—an era where murders happen every day, detectives do the work of the police, tennis can kill.

(4) Someone is truly thin—178 cm tall, weighing only 50 kg, he is still a boy.

This situation is practically pathological.. I had a male classmate who was the same height as him and even a bit heavier, but the person conducting his physical exam complained that he was so thin he might be missing some organs.

Moreover, he knows how to fight—for someone skilled in combat, being this thin is even more abnormal.

Generally speaking, for individuals of the same size, those with muscle will weigh more than those without; athletes are a prime example, as are those who specialize in martial arts.

He looks thin, but his weight is not light. — It's the difference between fat and muscle!

This is also why people with muscle mass gain weight very quickly if they stop maintaining it.

I remember that some specialized industries have specific requirements, such as being in the military. For professions like secret agents that require combat prowess, there are certainly requirements regarding body weight; they can be thin, but they are rarely light.

Those characters who are tall, strong, lightweight.. how were they even conceived? They probably only exist in 2D worlds and novels.

Little sisters must pay attention to their health when losing weight; being too thin is bad for your health~

(5) I remember those were lyrics to a song, but saying them here.. they take on a strange "double" meaning.

Someone was born in the UK and also studied in Italy.. Hehe.

..

This chapter tells us that one shouldn't make reckless flags.

He even invited them to a magic show.. *ahem*.

No one in the comment section of Chapter Twenty actually guessed it.

Some people guessed Amuro Tooru's.. I already told you, it's about unlocking a new character..

But Amuro will make her debut in the next chapter—well.. not the next chapter, but the one after that.

..

I will leave the character analysis blank for now and save it for the previous chapter; I will post it once I have the time to write it.

Chapter 24: Twenty-two "In the Organization, the ones with long silver hair are.."

The moment she saw Gin, Nani girl was quite surprised.

He managed to retain some of his composure and did not walk over immediately, but because the chance encounter was so surprising, his emotions were clearly visible, Niwang, who was beside him, obviously noticed.

"Someone you know?" The Silver-haired youth looked at her curiously, her sneakers scuffing against the ground.

Nani girl nodded, but she showed no intention of explaining further.

Her gaze, tinged with a hint of hesitation, turned toward Zhenjun as she contemplated whether to walk over and say hello.

But as she caught sight of the person beside the Silver-haired youth..

Nana paused, her heart filled with conflict, but she did not let it show again.

Although Gin had never told her profession, Nana could roughly guess it.

In any case, they were nothing but trouble.

The people around Zhenjun.. might also be dangerous individuals; she wasn't sure if she would cause trouble for Zhenjun.

However, after the Youth shared a few more words with Gin, he gave a half-smile at the slightly hostile Nana and turned to leave.

Nana frowned at the ambiguous meaning behind the youth's final glance, her heart filled with unease; despite her efforts to remain calm, her clenched right fist betrayed her inner panic.

In the next second, her hand was enveloped in a slight coolness.

Nana's eyes widened, she turned her head in surprise to look at the youth beside her.

A slightly cunning smile played on the Silver-haired youth's face, making her look somewhat cynical, but Nana could see a sense of reassurance in the youth's emerald eyes.

What the..

She murmured softly to herself.

I'm clearly older than her, this is.. so embarrassing.

Even so, she did not withdraw her hand from the youth's palm.

She gripped her hand back.

Since you know them, why not go say hello?

Nana pursed her lips. "Never mind.. Er.."

She saw the Silver-haired youth give her a slight nod, which was a sign of agreement.

Thus, the Black-haired girl unconsciously let out a smile, her green eyes brightening as she blinked. "Let's go over there."

In the next second, she felt the hand holding hers tighten.

The black-haired girl blinked again, her smile widening involuntarily. She opened her fist within the youth's palm, her fingers brushing against her slightly calloused palm as she squeezed back her cool hand.

She tilted her head, a smile in her eyes: "Let's go!"

Ah.. oh.

..

Watching their interaction unfold, Gin's mouth twitched, feeling a strange sensation as if he were glowing.

Is it really necessary to hold hands for such a short distance?

And, Nani-chan, did you forget what you told me before?

Looking at the youth and girl standing before her, the Black-haired girl's face flushed slightly, it was unclear whether it was due to the heat or some other reason; and then there was the Silver-haired youth—

The moment their eyes met, both of them froze for a moment.

Both have silver hair and green eyes..

The silver-haired youth was also surprised; she knew of the person named Niwang Yaji, but this was the first time she had seen what he actually looked like.

Gin quickly regained his composure. Judging by the silver-haired youth's hair color and the condition of the roots, he could deduce that it was most likely dyed.

The Silver-haired youth was not so calm.

She was already half a step ahead of the Black-haired girl, at this moment, he turned slightly, imperceptibly blocking most of Gin's line of sight, her gaze faintly betraying hostility.

Hostility, my ass!

Gin thought that this child was truly fortunate.

In the Dark World, anyone who dared to look at him like that.. Heh.

She felt that the reason he was only looking at this kid with a calm expression, without showing any "oppressive" gaze, was partly because he couldn't be bothered to bully a middle schooler, partly because of Nana!

May I ask who you are—?

Before Nana could speak, Niwang spoke up first.

The youth's lips curled into a faint, enigmatic smirk, giving her a rogueish charm, but her green eyes stared straight at Gin, filled with a sense of undeniable toughness and persistence.

Nana could only facepalm.
