Chapter 66(1 / 1)

Gojo Satoru sat down on the chair beside him and crossed his legs.

"I want to hire you to do something," he said.

Illumi looked at him, his hollow Eyes showing no reaction.

What is it?

Go to Meteor City," Gojo Satoru said. "Find a person named 'Rabbit King.' Confirm his appearance and his situation, then come back and tell me.

Illumi was silent for a few seconds.

Why me?

Mikuru said you're the most suitable," Gojo Satoru said. "Besides, you look like you're quite good at this kind of thing.

Illumi said nothing. He just stared at Gojo Satoru, his hollow Eyes seeming as though they could see right through a person.

Gojo Satoru let him stare, a smile playing on his face.

After a long while, Illumi spoke:

You care about this man. Why?

Gojo Satoru's smile faltered for a moment. Then he recovered, saying in a relaxed tone:

He is a very important 'possession' that I lost.

Illumi stared at him and blinked.

Possession?

Yeah," Gojo Satoru said, "the very important kind.

Illumi remained silent for a few seconds, then nodded.

A deposit of ten million Jenny," he said. "Another ten million after the job is done. If the intelligence is accurate, I'll add another five million.

Gojo Satoru pulled a card out of his Pocket and placed it on the Desk in front of him.

There is fifteen million inside," he said. "Pay the deposit first, settle the rest when you return.

Illumi picked up that card, took a look, put it into his Pocket.

Three days," he said. "Three Days Later, I will give you a Message.

Gojo Satoru stood up, walked to the Doorway, glanced back at him.

Don't hurt him," he said, his voice still relaxed, but his eyes were somewhat cold. "He has a Child in his belly.

Illumi's expression finally showed a slight change—his eyebrows twitched slightly.

Child?

Yeah.

Illumi looked at him, a flicker of something passing through his hollow Eyes.

“Yours?”

Mine.

Illumi was silent for a few seconds, then nodded.

Understood.

Gojo Satoru opened the door and walked out.

When he returned to his room, he found Killua Zoldyck sitting on his bed, holding an empty Dessert Box.

"Where did you go?" Killua Zoldyck asked, with Cream still on the corner of his mouth.

"I went to talk to your Eldest Brother about a few things." Gojo Satoru sat down beside him.

Illumi?" Killua Zoldyck frowned. "He's terrifying. Why are you looking for him?

Have him help me find someone," Gojo Satoru said, looking at Killua Zoldyck. "What about you? Why are you here again?

Killua Zoldyck set down the empty Box and looked at him.

"I want to help too," he said.

Gojo Satoru raised an eyebrow. "Help?"

"Yeah." Killua Zoldyck nodded. "Aren't you looking for someone? I can help you keep an eye out for any Messages. I often sneak out to play, so sometimes I hear things happening on the outside.

Gojo Satoru looked at him and smiled.

“Then what kind of reward do you want?”

Killua Zoldyck thought for a moment. "More Dessert. And.. next time you go down the mountain, let me play for a bit longer."

"Deal." Gojo Satoru held out his hand.

Killua Zoldyck grabbed it and shook it vigorously.

But you have to be careful," Gojo Satoru said. "A place like Meteor City is not somewhere you should go.

I know," Killua Zoldyck said. "I'm just asking around outside. I won't go in.

Gojo Satoru nodded, took out a new Box from beside him, handed it to Killua Zoldyck.

This is for you.

Killua Zoldyck opened the Box, inside was a box of colorful Macaron.

Wow.." His Eyes lit up, "Thank you!

You're welcome." Gojo Satoru rubbed his silver hair. "Remember to keep an eye out for any messages for me.

Killua Zoldyck held the Box and nodded vigorously.

At night, Gojo Satoru was called by Kikyo to eat.

It was called a "family banquet," but in reality, it was just Kikyo's way of wanting to see this "new nephew" more. The dining table was filled with exquisite dishes, Kikyo sat next to the head seat, his eyes fixed on Gojo Satoru.

Eat more, eat more." He kept placing food into Gojo Satoru's bowl, "You're too thin; you must have been suffering out there, haven't you?

Gojo Satoru smiled and said thank you, then lowered his head to eat his meal.

Silva sat in the head seat, eating in silence, occasionally glancing at Gojo Satoru.

Halfway through his meal, Silva spoke up:

I heard you found Illumi?

Gojo Satoru raised his head. "Yeah."

To Meteor City?

Yeah.

Silva put down his chopsticks and looked at him.

Meteor City is no ordinary place," he said. "Illumi can enter it, but the Message he brings back might not be accurate. You must be mentally prepared.

Gojo Satoru nodded. "I know."

Silva stared at him for a few seconds and then said:

And also, do not cause trouble for the Zoldyck family.

Gojo Satoru smiled, his smile as bright as Sunlight:

Of course. I am merely a poor husband looking for his wife.

Silva looked at him without saying a word.

Kikyo screamed from the side, "Searching for someone! A husband! Oh my god, how romantic! Are you going to find your wife?"

Gojo Satoru thought for a moment. "You could say that."

"What does she look like? What is his name? How did you two get separated?" Kikyo asked in rapid succession, his Eyes shining with an eerie light.

Gojo Satoru's smile remained unchanged: "Black hair, red eyes, with rabbit ears. His name is Tu Bai. We.. well, there was a bit of an accident."

Kikyo covered his mouth, his eyes turning red: "That's so touching.. Traveling thousands of miles to find a lover.. You must find him!"

Gojo Satoru nodded: "I will."

Silva glanced at Kikyo, saying nothing.

After finishing his meal, Gojo Satoru returned to his room.

He stood by the window, gazing at the night sky outside. The stars in this world were very bright, completely different from those in Tokyo.

Is Xiao Bai looking at the same sky as well?

Outside the window, the night grew deep.

Low roars from wild beasts drifted from the distant Mountain Forest.

Gojo Satoru stood for a long time before turning around and lying back on the Bed.

Before closing his eyes, that blurry photo surfaced in his brain again—black hair, red eyes, rabbit ears, holding a sword.

It was his Xiao Bai.

It must be.

Chapter 39

On the evening of Day 3, Illumi returned.

When he appeared at the doorway of Gojo Satoru's room, his hollow eyes stared at Gojo Satoru, his face devoid of any expression.

"I found it," he said.

Gojo Satoru stood up immediately.

Illumi walked into the Room and took out a palm-sized object from his Pocket—it was like a small, translucent crystal ball. He placed the object on the Desk and pressed it.

The Crystal Ball lit up, projecting a display of Light and Shadow.
